The 8U Rack Box Cover Panel is an add-on kit that closes off the front or back of your Rack Box, protecting your equipment during transport from strapping and impacts.
Each kit covers one side. Order two to cover both front and back.
The panel lifts out with minimal force and docks onto the side of the Rack Box, so the cover has a home when it’s not in use. The Rack Box locating screw system still works with the cover panel installed, so stacking is unaffected.
Fits the 8U Rack Box 14 (SKU 14765) and 8U Rack Box 17 (SKU 14720).

Important: Prior to purchase, please read disclaimers below
- The 10/50 rails mount ahead of the rack rails and cover the rack rail screw holes on that face. To add or remove rack components, the 10/50 rails need to come off first.
- The cover panel backing screws project slightly into the highest and lowest rack unit. All rack units remain usable, but components needing full-depth clearance at that position — a drawer, for example — may not fit. Plan your rack position accordingly.
What’s included
A single kit includes the ABS cover panel, two 10/50 aluminum extrusion rails that mount to either the front or back of the Rack Box, and the fasteners needed to locate the panel and park it on the side.
How it works
The 10/50 rails mount to the front or back face of the Rack Box, sitting ahead of the rack rails. The cover panel flexes slightly into the slots on both rails and is held in place by backing screws on the top and bottom cross tubes, which prevent it from being pushed inward. Two finger holes in the panel let you pull it back out.
When you don’t need the cover, slide the panel onto the side keepers on either side of the Rack Box, where it locks over a central locator and stays put in transit.
Note on rack clearance
The cover panel backing screws project slightly into the highest and lowest rack unit. All rack units remain usable, but components requiring full-depth clearance at that position — a drawer, for example — may not fit. Plan your rack position accordingly.
Optional: skip the side parking hardware
The side keepers, glide pins, and locator only matter if you want to park the panel on the side. Skip them and the Rack Box stays at its base 19.5″ width — worth considering for a tight cart slot or fixed case.
